Rex Constantine Vaughan Williams, to give him his full monicker, is a man on a mission.
In his niche role as a French-language cricket commentator, he loves to spread the gospel about the glories of the summer game which, he insists, evolved not from the playing fields of England but the verdant pastures of Normandy.
It’s tough, though. His French co-commentators appear to be watching a different game or setting up Tinder dates while the network remains indifferent. And when France Sport decide to end their coverage, Rex’s world collapses in spectacular fashion.
It’s the moment when he realises he needs some inspiration if he is to become a cricket missionary.

Vive le Cricket!, which has been created by NG Bristow and Barney Spender, is a 55 minute one-man show, part comic monologue, part cultural expedition, which mixes storytelling, impromptu commentary and digressive reflections on sport, identity and the strange ways national pastimes travel – or fail to travel – across borders.
Rest assured, unlike the commentators, the audience do NOT need to be fluent in either French or Cricket.
